The longtime snack that you may find at places like grocery stores and gas stations, or most popularly baseball games is getting a new character. The caramel coated popcorn and peanut snack is going to have more than one name now after the announcement of Cracker Jill, after being called only Cracker Jack since 1896. There will be bags of Cracker Jacks and Cracker Jills across the world now. The main reason for this was to support and celebrate the women who broke sports barriers.

Along with the announcement of Cracker Jill, Frito-Lay also said thatthey will donate 200k to the non-profit Women’s Sports Foundation. The specialized bags with Cracker Jill on the front of them will be available across MLB ballparks this baseball season, which will help fans across the country see the newly made Cracker Jill bags.

When asked about the decision in an interview with Food & Wine, Frito-Lay Vice President of Marketing, Tina Mahal had this to say, “We are constantly inspired by the many women who are making history by breaking the mold, and we want to celebrate their achievements while supporting the progress.” This is a very supportive decision from Frito-Lay overall for womens sports. This is a big event in women’s history and showcases support from a big name company.
