Congrats to the Joliet West Boys Tennis Team for their progress this season and for representing our school. Although the season just started not too long ago, the team has been presenting a blend of skill, teamwork, and determination with each match they play on the court – even making the audience turn heads.
The players push themselves to improve with each practice session, focusing on their techniques and building their strategy on how to beat their opponents, and foster an environment for healthy competition.
A player from the team, Brian Nguyen, stated, “I think the team has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season, where before the team was everywhere and players playing position they didn’t want to or weren’t capable to play now we have it to where everybody is comfortable and if they feel fit for the next level can challenge a player for their spot.”
Their success isn’t just achieved by wins, it’s created by their bond. A bond that is created is showcased during each match, where encouragement and advice flow throughout the court; lifting the team’s overall performance.
Similar to many, the team has its challenges. Brian Nguyen continued, “The biggest challenge that our team has faced is getting 4 wins out of the seven to secure a team win, we are still early in the season and there’s still a lot of places players can improve on but as a team we can get over it.”
The player expressed that even though the team faces their challenges from time to time, they know how to solve each obstacle together. Their commitment to their sport extends beyond the game, and goes to reflect their values of sportsmanship.
As the team continues their season, not only do they strive for victory but also for the spirit of teamwork and engagement, and their valued representation for Joliet West.
