“Say My Name” was the Tiger dance team’s motto since the start of their sideline season and it definitely has stuck with them all the way till now. These girls worked so hard and were so determined to have their name said with meaning and not be pushed to the side that they placed 1st and 2nd place at the Maine East competition in the IHSA and IDTA categories, they placed 4th in the SPC Conference competition and they got their name called in 6th place in the sectional comp where they earned a spot to state which was the ultimate goal. They have truly earned the position and the respect they have now.

Under the guidance and coaching of Jennifer Cryder & Kelsey Polcyn, the varsity competitive dance team started working on this season and dance in the summer! The seniors made the dance mostly themselves with few changes made throughout the season. The title of the piece is called, “Anywhere Away From Here”. The message of this dance would be to demonstrate resilience when you’re put down and looked over. Head coach Jennifer Cryder explains, “The team got into the character and mindset of this piece by remembering times where they were looked over or not given a chance. Working and knowing their self-worth in any situation. Knowing we keep pushing to meet goals no matter the mountain to climb.” Keeping all the inspiration in mind, getting their name called at 3 separate competitions which is more than past years and their message came across loud and clear.

With all the blood, sweat, and tears shed throughout this season, it has all been worth it. The goal of making it to state was achieved with a beautifully performed and emotion filled performance. Congratulations to all the varsity Tiger dancers for an exceptional season and to the seniors Alaina Berk, Cailey Koerner, Emmy Rosado, Madison Slinkard, Lilianna Guzman, and Cheyenne Moser for making your last year your best one.
