Mr. Omari Ferguson

Omari Ferguson is a starting slot receiver for Joliet West Varsity football team. He has been playing football for 7 years and really loves the sport. “I had so much anger inside of me as a little kid and I felt that football was the only way to let it out,” says Ferguson. Just by seeing his older brother play football as a kid Omari wanted to follow into his footsteps. His favorite part about football is scoring a touchdown. “It’s like a homeless person winning a million-dollar lotto…it’s the best feeling ever,” said Ferguson. Omari started off as a B team player his freshman year then his sophomore year he was a backup player winning Co offense MVP. His junior year Omari was a starter with in that season he had 7 touchdowns and 600 yards and also won all conference and all area. A before game ritual for Ferguson is he looks at a picture of his brother who has passed away. “It makes me play better and I think of him during games,” says Omari Ferguson. This season he hopes that him and his teammates have a good season and that he gets a scholarship to play football.
