On April 2nd, 2026 Attorney General Pam Bondi was fired from the Trump administration. Bondi had been a part of the administration since February 2025. She was replaced by Todd Blanche, who is now Acting Attorney General. The sudden firing of Bondi left many speculating as to why she was let go. When talking about the possible reasons for her getting fired it is stated by Garrett Haake, Monica Alba and Gabe Gutierrez from the NBC News that “A senior administration official and a source familiar with the matter told NBC News that Bondi was fired. Trump had grown ‘more and more frustrated’ with Bondi in recent days, a person familiar with White House deliberations said, adding that while he likes her as a person, he doesn’t think she has ‘executed on his vision’ in the way that he wants. Trump and Bondi spoke Wednesday, and he informed her that her time as attorney general was coming to an end, according to an administration official.” This leaves the idea that Trump had been planning on letting her go due to how she was handling the work being given to her. Bondi later posted on X saying that she is “‘moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration.’” Bondi saying this shows that although she is no longer a part of the administration she still will be putting work into it. After it was released that Bondi was fired Trump continued to praise her saying that she is a “loyal friend” and a “great American patriot”. Even though Pam has been let go it seems that she will not be easily forgotten by the Trump administration. The exact reason of why she was is not released yet but the theories continue on.
