When the marching band season ended, many of the Tigers began to reflect on the joyous memories of the season.
The marching band at Joliet West High School, known as the Marching Tigers, is a high-spirited and dynamic ensemble that brings energy and pride to a variety of different events throughout the fall season.
These tigers perform at local parades, school pep rallies, football games, state competitions, and community festivals, showcasing their extravagant musical talents and excellent marching skills.
The Marching Tigers are renowned not only for their strong sound and formations but also for their innovative and creative show designs that captivate audiences year after year. Their dedication, teamwork, and passion for music have earned them a plethora of awards and recognitions over the years, reflecting their commitment to excellence and artistic expression in the field. Beyond competition, the band builds a strong sense of family, loyalty, and pride among its members, making it a treasured part of the Joliet West community.
Sophomore Ava Jaburek, a bass drum in marching band, says, “What inspired me to do the drums was because I wanted to hit things a lot growing up. I know that sounds a bit scary, but it was very therapeutic for me. But as I discovered my journey, I also began to like the sounds, tunes, and beats of each drum, especially the bass drum. I believe everyone has their own unique sounds, and once you achieve that sound, you’ll begin to shine!”
Sophomore Janiyah Jackson, a color guard member of the marching tigers, says, “I’ve loved color guard since the minute I joined it! The whole color guard team is really supportive and fun to be around. I believe you can build the color guard experience with more practice. Every time I have the chance, I will always turn back to marching band for the next season I have left.
As the marching band season approaches, the familiar notes and melodies, along with the vibrant flags and precise formations, will once again come to life for the upcoming marching band season.
