When you donate blood it is a decision to save another person’s life. It’s the most precious gift to ever donate to someone-the gift of life. There have been a lot of blood drives being held at the Joliet West campus through Heartland Blood Centers and Vitalant. Blood drives are held at least 1-2 times a semester. When donating blood there has to be a 60-day period one must wait to donate again.
FUN FACT 1: During World War 2, there were segregated blood containers so, if you were white, you got the “whites’ blood” and if you were black you got “blacks’ blood”.
FUN FACT 2: 1 donation can save up to 3 lives, through many things such as blood transfusions, research, ect..
FUN FACT 3: More than 38,000 blood donations are needed a day.
