The Oscars were held this year on March 15th, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. The awards go back 96 years and continue to this day!

This wasn’t just an award ceremony. It was created to show the world the actors who demonstrated their talents on screen. People that worked hard to be on that stage and touched our souls in the process with their performances. 

Tony Jawdat, a freshman added, “The Oscars were fascinating, I loved the way you could hear how excited and nervous everyone was for the results of the winners. The winners didn’t surprise me, I did like who was chosen for the awards though.”

Following up on the opinions about the Oscars, Ms. Blackmon, the Orientation to Business Teacher added, “I believe the Oscars are an elegant display of some of the best of the best Oscars. However, I do wish they engaged all viewers more. Maybe a people’s choice.”

There were several categories, for example one of them being Best Actor. The winner of the category was Micheal B. Jordan, from Sinners. Micheal wasn’t just an actor, he was also a director and a producer. He was famous for his role as Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station in 2013, for starring as Adonis Creed in the Creed franchise and Erik Killmonger in Blackpanther in 2018. He was also known for several other breakthroughs on television, along with his collaborations with director Ryan Coogler. 

The award Micheal B. Jordan received after winning the category was a bit shocking to many, Ms. Blackmon  continued, “Actually, Best Male Actor was awarded to Micheal B. Jordan, although it was well deserved it was a loaded category with some great honorable mentions. However, after researching his rise to fame it made the winner all the more deserving.”

Another nominee for the Best Actor award was Timothee Chalamet, from Marty Supreme. The nominee was known for a variety of things, just like Micheal B. Jordan. Such as his breakout role in Call me by Your Name in 2017, and he also was given praise for his roles in Little Women in 2019, and various other roles over the years. Aside from his acting on screen, his unique style, artistic yet rebellious approach to fame is what makes him stand out. 

The Oscars will always deliver surprises, and this year was no different. From unexpected wins to memorable speeches, the night kept many viewers on edge of their seats.
