On September 26th, 2025, a masterpiece in the making was released to the public: One Battle After Another. This is established and respected director Paul Thomas Anderson’s 10th feature film and it’s already become his most critically acclaimed and commercially successful. In just a couple weeks within the release of the film, it has snagged a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and a fair share of Oscar’s buzz, but is it hitting with local audiences?
The evidence suggests it does! Freshman Evelyn Malikowski saw the film and she said, “I was blown away by the acting. The girl playing the lead did an especially good job, but everyone in it was amazing.” The girl Ms. Malikowski is referring to is Chase Infiniti, who makes her film debut in One Battle After Another, starring among such stars as Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, and Benicio Del Toro. Another person very complementary of the performances, specifically as two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn as Colonel Lockjaw, the film’s villain, is Sophomore Dono Murdock-Schey, who said, “he made the villain role very threatening yet pathetic, while also hitting the comedic moments.”
There is more to rave about than just the acting though! Junior Isabella Vienne said, “the story really resonated on an emotional level and it looked really good.”
The story follows a former revolutionary and his teen daughter, who are on the run after a threat from his past returns. The story is full of fleshed out characters, action, suspense, and it has an unexpected sense of humor. There’s something for everyone in this film and it’s the kind of movie that theaters are made for.
