The Joliet West Key Club is hosting a Trunk or Treat event here at Joliet West. It will take place on October 18th from 4 to 6 p.m. They are inviting the entire community, especially children to come and attend. There is no entrance fee and the event will include candy, games, decorated cars and will be located in the senior parking lot, next to the tennis courts.
Ms. Galloy, the multimedia and journalism teacher, will be representing her class in the event for the first time. She says, “I’m looking forward to my group decorating the car and passing out candy, interacting with the community.”
Another possible activity for families and friends is Haunted Trails Park in Joliet. The park has an escape room, miniature golf, go karts and so much more. The mini golf course is Halloween themed, which is perfect for this season. The escape room is based on a haunted mansion, where you have to find proof that paranormal activity exists. Are you up to the challenge? Tickets are priced at $30 per person
And of course, Trick or Treating is still a very popular Halloween activity among young people. Haunted houses are also close in popularity among high school students. Lylah Chavez, a junior, talks about her experience seeing hand made jack-o-lanterns. “It was really cool to see all the handcarved, lit up pumpkins. It was impressive to see people’s work”. Halloween can look very different depending on a student’s experiences. It’s what makes the holiday so special.
