Wordle: Your newest addiction

If you’re like me and  constantly looking for new and fun games to pass the time, then you should check out Wordle. Wordle is an online word game that allows you 6 tries to guess the correct 5-letter word. If you guess the correct
letter and it’s not in the correct place, then the letter will turn yellow; if you guess the correct letter in the right place, then the letter will turn green.

Wordle is a fairly simple game and you’ll find yourself getting drawn in by it more and more everyday. The first time I played Wordle I cheated and asked my friend for the letters, and I guessed the correct word on my second try. Cheating isn’t uncommon in Wordle but, I must admit it’s more fun and satisfying to get the correct word on your own.

Wordle was developed by Josh Wardle but later bought by the New York Times. Players have complained that ever since the NYTs bought the game, the words have been getting harder. Though this cannot be proven there has been a rise in cheating on Wordle. A study from WordfindersX has found that Google Trends for the words, ‘swill, caulk, tacit, and dodge’ reached an all-time high on the days they were used in Wordle.

Wordle can be as challenging as it is fun. If you ever do decide to try your hand at it, keep in mind that everyday there will be a new word for you to try to guess, so don’t take it too seriously and have fun. But, if you’re impatient, you can always go to Wordle Unlimited where there’s an unlimited amount of words for you to guess.
