On Saturday, April 30^th, Journalism II students will be competing at the annual IHSA Journalism sectionals in order to hopefully move on to Eastern for the state competition on May 6^th. A total of 13 students will be competing against nine other schools in 16 different categories. The lineup includes Freddie Alvardo competing in Advertising and Yearbook Copy Writing, Connor Relyea in Broadcast News, Denise Cahue in Copy Editing, and Bianca Sarver will be competing in Photography. Michelle Lega will compete in both Info Graphics and Yearbook Layout Spread. Jessica Nunez will take on Newspaper Design and Katie Welz will do News Writing. Elissa Chudwin will not only compete in Review Writing but also Editorial Writing and Michelle Lozano will represent Sports Writing. The Yearbook Theme will be represented by both Sadie McGuire and Amanda Layman, who will also do Editorial Cartooning. Krista Merhl will compete in Feature Writing and to finish it off, Kayla Fink will compete in Headline Writing. Sectionals will be held in Peoria at Richwoods High School.
